
Augusta University announces 2026 Distinguished Alumni, Outstanding Young Alumni
Augusta University’s Distinguished Alumni and Outstanding Young Alumni award winners will be celebrated during Alumni Weekend.
Augusta University plans to expand its animation program to include an additional 21 faculty members in the Department of Art and Design, which will make it possible to attract about 400 more animation students in the coming years.

“This program is a prime example of turning those strengths into opportunities, giving students the chance to bring classroom learning into the real world through paid, meaningful internships right here on campus,” says Russell T. Keen.

The annual event was held Sept. 7 on the Summerville Campus.

As Hurricane Dorian approaches the Atlantic Coast, Augusta University and Augusta University Health officials are closely monitoring forecasts.

“She’s strong, she’s fighting and she’s thriving. I couldn’t ask for more right now,” Ronnell Barton says of his daughter’s time at Children’s after the hurricane evacuation.

“It takes a village to deliver complete care of the patient,” said Dr. Tania Arora, a fellowship-trained surgeon equipped with skills to remove many different forms of cancer from a patient’s body.

Once the highest-ranking female in U.S. medical schools and the first female provost at the Medical College of Georgia, the late Dr. Lois Ellison is being honored with an exhibit in the Greenblatt Library at Augusta University.
