
Augusta University announces 2026 Distinguished Alumni, Outstanding Young Alumni
Augusta University’s Distinguished Alumni and Outstanding Young Alumni award winners will be celebrated during Alumni Weekend.
Augusta University plans to expand its animation program to include an additional 21 faculty members in the Department of Art and Design, which will make it possible to attract about 400 more animation students in the coming years.

“This program is a prime example of turning those strengths into opportunities, giving students the chance to bring classroom learning into the real world through paid, meaningful internships right here on campus,” says Russell T. Keen.

The annual event was held Sept. 7 on the Summerville Campus.

April Byrd, transfer admissions counselor for Augusta University, says her daughters’ medical journey at Children’s Hospital of Georgia shapes how she works with transfer students today.

The new chair of AU’s Department of Medical Illustration wanted to give her students a unique experience that would set them apart in a competitive workforce while taking them a little out of their comfort zones.

“The Georgia indictment is fairly sweeping, both in terms of charges and the number of people indicted. There are many possible implications from the breadth of this indictment,” said Martha Ginn, PhD.

“My mom used to tell me that I needed to stay green. And what she meant by that is to always have a growth mindset, always be growing and trying to improve. Every single program we have put on has been because a student has said ‘I need this’ or ‘I would like to know more about that,’” said Beth Huggins, PhD.
