Augusta University plans to expand its animation program to include an additional 21 faculty members in the Department of Art and Design, which will make it possible to attract about 400 more animation students in the coming years.

“It’s our community, and I feel very proud to be a part of it and to be able to help. I’ve built my skills as someone who speaks Spanish and English. I’m fluent, but I’m not a native speaker. To be able to offer those skills, to know that people who are native speakers and not bilingual – they know that I can be an asset or useful.”

The annual event was held Sept. 7 on the Summerville Campus.

“The biggest takeaway is that students need informal career-centered gatherings to hone networking skills. Students have commented that they lack confidence in social skills to build their peer network and market themselves. This type of event helps,” said Scott Thorp, chair of the Department of Art.
