Augusta University plans to expand its animation program to include an additional 21 faculty members in the Department of Art and Design, which will make it possible to attract about 400 more animation students in the coming years.

Using 3D printers, several faculty members at Augusta University have volunteered to make face shields to protect clinicians’ eyes and faces from the coronavirus.

“Health care workers are our most valuable asset,” said Dr. Phillip Coule, vice president and chief medical officer for AU Health. “Temporarily reassigning staff from areas of low demand to assist with the response to COVID-19 provides support for COVID-19 patients and keeps those workers on the job. Now is when we need all hands on deck.”
