Making the decision to ultimately become a PA was the easy part. From there, U.S. Army Capt. Edgar Rojas' path through his education became a little more difficult.
"Even when I was in high school, I thought, ‘Cyber would be a good choice.’ Then, when I got to AU, I knew it was the right choice," said student Lauren Wheeler.
“When I was 5, I read a fortune cookie that basically said your greatest strength lies in aiding others. For some reason, at that time it just clicked that I wanted to become a dentist and to make it a more positive experience for patients.”
As Augusta University prepares to celebrate the first graduates of 2022 at Spring Commencement, senior Ashley Sanchez, a graphic design student, is preparing for the next chapter as she eagerly waits to walk across the stage.
“I think the support that I have here has been amazing,” Shantelle Griffith said. “I always felt that between the faculty, my classmates and then my village at home, I always felt supported and I always felt that I could succeed."
The new BFA in Digital and Visual Storytelling will prepare students to be “cutting-edge visual storytellers” by developing diverse skill sets.

The Department of Art and Design teamed up with Augusta University alumnus Scott Hardigree to develop a class project that would allow students to design and pitch a garden sculpture.
Though many of the first women at MCG were doubted at some point, each of these graduates helped pave the way for women pursuing medical degrees today.
