Effective immediately, all elective procedures within the Augusta University Health System, including Augusta University Medical Center, Augusta University Medical Associates and Surgery Center of Columbia County, are canceled through April 5.

These cancellations are intended to reduce the potential for exposure to COVID-19 and to keep our patients and caregivers safe. We will continue to monitor and evaluate this situation.

Urgent and emergency procedures will proceed as clinically appropriate. We urge our physicians to use good clinical judgment regarding the urgency of cases. Cases in question should be escalated to the perioperative team for decisions through the clinical service chiefs.

Procedural areas in this directive are included but not limited to:

1. Main operating room, Children’s Hospital of Georgia operating room, Surgery Center of Columbia County

2. Interventional radiology

3. Cardiac cath lab and EP lab

4. Digestive Health and Bronchoscopy

5. Pain Clinic

6. Office and clinic-based elective procedures

Please contact the CMO’s office at 706-721-7348 with any questions.
