Local healthcare coalition presents award for effort during Hurricane Irma

On Dec. 6, the East Central Regional Healthcare Coalition presented a plaque during their quarterly meeting to Fresenius, a medical supply company, as a token of appreciation for the services provided to evacuees from Savannah during Hurricane Irma.

Kelly Hadden and Melissa Morris, representatives for Fresenius, were in attendance to accept the award.

Fresenius specializes in the production of medical supplies and works to facilitate or aid renal dialysis. The German company worked during Hurricane Irma to help supply necessary equipment to evacuees in the area.

The East Central Regional Healthcare Coalition is one of several regional coalitions that work collaboratively to address healthcare related emergency management issues. Receiving monetary support from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services via the Georgia Department of Public Health, the coalition plans for disasters and prepares to respond to regional emergency situations.

Augusta University Medical Center is the regional coordinating hospital for 12 counties across the CSRA and strives to ensure the area’s eventual recovery from a disaster while continuing to provide all of the necessary healthcare services the local communities rely on.
