Hanging ribbons and sharing stories of childhood cancer

Patients at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia and their families hung gold ribbons around trees lining the breezeway Friday.

The gold ribbon represents childhood cancer. Ribbons could be hung to honor a child’s life or in memory of a child who did not survive his or her fight with cancer. Jim Mumford, Administrative Director of Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, says the hospital sees an average of 900 cancer patients each year.

The ribbons will hang for the entire month of September because it is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
