Recently, Dr. Andrew Balas, professor of public health in the College of Allied Health Sciences, presented at the opening panel of the Global Forum for Higher Education and Scientific Research (GFHS) in Cairo, Egypt. The forum was a three-day event with thousands of participants from all over the world, many from developing countries.
The discussion of Balas’ panel was led by Khaled Abdel- Ghaffar, minister of higher education and scientific research in Egypt.
During the panel discussion, Balas talked about the need for more information technologies in health care and about the significance of supporting academic freedom in developing productive research laboratories. Balas also thanked the president and Egyptian leadership for organizing a very promising campaign to eradicate Hepatitis C and asked for further support to win this fight. At the end of the panel discussion, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi responded positively to the comments.
