Allergy-Immunology division chief elected to national leadership position

Dr. Kathleen May, FACAAI, division chief of Allergy-Immunology and Pediatric Rheumatology in the Medical College of Georgia‘s Department of Pediatrics, and associate professor of pediatrics and medicine at Augusta University, has been elected to the position of treasurer of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI).

With her election, she joins the college’s executive leadership and becomes the second woman since 1942 to serve in the role of ACAAI treasurer.

In addition, May will be concluding her term as chair of the American Board of Allergy and Immunology (ABAI) in December. During her tenure, she has helped launch ABAI’s Maintenance of Certification (MOC) pilot, transforming a 10-year secure MOC exam to an article-based Continuous Assessment Program (CAP) Pilot.

Dr. May joined Augusta University as division chief of Allergy-Immunology and Pediatric Rheumatology in July 2017.
