Gru.edu email domain to be retired on Dec. 14

The gru.edu email domain will be permanently retired on Dec. 14. After that time, mail to gru.edu addresses will no longer be forwarded to augusta.edu addresses and will be returned to the sender as undeliverable.

When we began working with our stakeholders to change our name to Augusta University and AU Health in 2015, it became clear very early that the implications of changes to our email domain were particularly sensitive. Our email addresses are important to much of the work we do every day. As a result, we made a number of decisions that were designed to ease the transition to the new augusta.edu domain.

One of the principal decisions was to avoid a hard transition between the old gru.edu domain and our new augusta.edu domain. It was our hope that this period of overlap would allow ample time to communicate to all relevant parties that our email addresses had changed. The time has now come to retire the gru.edu domain.

Our gru.edu email domain will be permanently retired on Dec. 14. After that time, mail to gru.edu addresses will no longer be forwarded to augusta.edu addresses – instead, it will be returned to the sender as undeliverable.

In June 2017, we began adding a red letter notice at the top of all incoming email that was still addressed to gru.edu addresses. If you are still receiving important correspondence bearing that notice, please notify those senders of your new email address right away.

Thank you for your careful attention to this matter as we officially retire our old domain name and fully embrace our new one. Please contact us at either of the telephone numbers below if you have questions or need assistance.
