Free clinic provides screenings for female farmworkers

WHAT: Students at Augusta University will provide examinations, health screenings and bilingual information for patients at a free health clinic for female farmworkers.

WHEN: 7:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, in the interdisciplinary clinic of the Health Sciences building, 987 St. Sebastian Way.

ABOUT: Nearly 100 farmworkers of Costa Layman Nurseries in Trenton, S.C., will travel to Augusta for the 9th annual clinic, organized by the Augusta University College of Nursing. They will receive pap smears, breast examinations, osteoporosis, diabetes, HIV, body weight, blood pressure, vision, skin, and dental screenings. Students also provide a clothing closet and nutrition center with healthful food and information.

OPPORTUNITIES: Photo, video and interview opportunities will be available.
