After nearly four months of work, the GRU Wellness Center is about to have its grand reopening, and the changes are both cosmetic and functional.
Not only have all the interior surfaces been repainted, including the duct work and the gym ceiling, most of the carpet and existing rubber flooring has been replaced with Johnsonite Inertia rubber flooring, giving the facility a new and modern look.
The basketball courts have been refinished with all new lines, and the Jaguar logo is now prominently in the center. A new scoreboard has also been added, and the goals and curtain screens will now be controlled from a new control center.
Additional data and electrical ports were added to help accommodate a larger numbers of students and members, and all new LED lighting fixtures were also added, including in the gym area.
In spite of the scope of the renovation, only the wood floor refinishing required the facility to close down. Otherwise, it remained open throughout the rest of the process.
The grand reopening will occur on Friday, Jan. 30, from 6 a.m-9 p.m. Whole Foods will sponsor the event.
