Edelman’s Daniel C. Roberts to speak during College to the Capitol event

Daniel C. Roberts, account executive in Edelman’s New York Corporate & Public Affairs practice, will present “College to the Capitol: Using What You Learn Outside the Classroom to Land Your Dream Job” on Feb. 1, 2018. This event will take place from 6-8 p.m. in room UH 170 on the Summerville Campus and. This event, tailored to students and alumni of the Department of Communication and Master of Public Administration program, is open and free to the public.

Roberts will also present on Feb. 2, 2018, where he will give a similar talk at the leadership luncheon from 12-1:30 p.m. in the JSAC Coffeehouse. This second talk is also free and open to students, faculty and staff.

Before joining Edelman, Roberts worked in Legislative Affairs and Communications at the White House, developing external messaging for congressional offices and media outlets. Before that, he served as legislative coordinator for Federal Relations at the National Governor’s Association where he supported bipartisan advocacy campaigns on behalf of the nation’s governors.

Roberts specializes in media relations, crisis management and influencer engagement at Edelman. His clients span a wide margin of industries, including real estate, insurance, media and nonprofits.

Roberts graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy Leadership from the University of Mississippi. During his time in the nation’s capital, he served as a mentor in both the White House’s My Brother’s Keeper and Washington D.C.’s College Bound programs.

Mayor Hardie Davis will introduce Roberts before Thursday’s lecture.

These events are co-sponsored by the Katherine Reese Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, the Master of Public Administration program, the Department of Communication and Student Life and Engagement.
