Pause for Paws returns for finals week

The Augusta University Athletic Department and the Department of Social Sciences, in the Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, will host the third annual “Pause for Paws” Rescue Dog Awareness Christmas Parade at the Summerville Campus.

Local shelters and rescue agencies will bring wonderful, adoptable dogs to Augusta University for students, athletes, coaches, faculty, staff and administrators to meet during finals week.

“Pause for Paws” will raise shelter dog awareness, provide the pups with some much-needed love, attention and exercise, and help find foster and forever homes for these forgotten animals.

Please join us at the Tear Drop directly across from the Barnard Amphitheater next to the flag pole. We encourage the entire campus to come spend time with these beautiful shelter dogs.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 3, and the first hour will be time to meet and greet the adoptable pups. We will start the Christmas Parade around 12:15, where Santa Claus, Kenny Buddy the Elf and the rescue dogs will be introduced to the crowd and run through a chute of all our dog-loving cheerleaders, students and athletic teams.

The parade will take approximately 20 minutes to go around the center of the beautiful Summerville Campus. Students and faculty are encouraged to help walk shelter dogs, which will give these pups much-needed love, exercise and human companionship.
