Man gets a shot

In another effort to extend vaccination to underserved populations, Augusta University will open a pop-up vaccination clinic in at the Robert Howard Community Center at Diamond Lakes Regional Park. Augusta Commissioner Ben Hasan received the first shot.

“I can hopefully be a catalyst in encouraging the constituents of South Augusta to come out and get a shot,” he said.

Augusta Mayor Hardie Davis and several other Augusta commissioners joined AU Health CEO Katrina Keefer and Associate Vice President of Strategic Planning and and Pharmacy Services Joshua Wyche at a press event April 26 to announce the new location.

Wyche said he hopes this clinic will provide more access to minorities and young people in the region. He said the more people are educated directly, the more likely they will make decisions based on facts, rather than myths often found on social media.
