By now, you’re in on the joke.
Augusta University didn’t actually develop a SafeTee Dome Defender ™ to prevent injuries on the golf course.
We did modify a motorcycle helmet with custom Augusta University decals to be worn by “Dr. Eric O’Dum,” aka Eric Odom, a university webmaster. (Watch the outtakes that didn’t make it into the video.)
Research at Augusta is, however, at the leading edge of new scientific advancements that improve and enrich human lives.
We seek to create a healthier, more prosperous Georgia with research that targets diseases directly impacting our communities. As the state’s only public academic health center, Augusta’s world-class clinicians and researchers work to treat and prevent trauma, including traumatic brain injuries. Learn more about the neuroscience center at AU Health.
Augusta University is also the home of the two-time NCAA Division I champion men’s golf team. None of our golfers wear a helmet on the course, but we’d strongly recommend the optional poly shield to anyone playing golf in Augusta this spring.
Happy April Fools’ Day from the Division of Communications & Marketing at Augusta University.
