Why did you choose Augusta University?
“I chose Augusta University because I’m from Augusta. I’ve lived here my whole life, and it was initially a convenience decision. It was closer, much more affordable than other universities.”
What have you discovered during your time here?
“It’s definitely been a good decision beyond the initial convenience and location factors. I like that the university is a good size. I didn’t feel like I was at a small community college, but it was also small enough that I was able to interact more personally with the faculty and the director of the Honors Program. I was able to get a more in-depth experience than I probably would have at a larger university.”
Which professor would you say had the biggest impact on you?
“I would say my thesis adviser, Dr. Sabina Widner. She definitely guided me through that process and she also was my regular adviser, so we’ve had a lot of interactions over the four and a half years I’ve been here.”
What do you plan to do after graduating?
“My plan is to hopefully start grad school in the fall. I’d like to pursue a PsyD, a PhD-level specialty psychology degree, with the goal of eventually being able to go into clinical counseling work, either at a hospital or in a private setting.”
What piece of advice would you give to incoming freshmen?
“Take the opportunities as they come. If you have a chance to try something new, do some research, do it now while you can. You’ll learn something, it’ll look great on your resume and it’ll be a great experience. Take a chance.”
