Fraud Awareness Week activities showcase the SPIRIT of USG

Augusta University is celebrating its ethical culture this week in honor of this year’s Fraud Awareness Week, Nov. 12 – 18, 2017.

Celebrated by the University System of Georgia, Fraud Awareness Week reinforces USG’s principles of recognizing the hard work of all employees and promoting the shared values of integrity, excellence, accountability and respect.

The theme for the week is “The SPIRIT of USG.” The activities planned will emphasize:

  • Stewardship
  • Prevention
  • Integrity
  • Responsibility
  • Inspiration and
  • Trust

In support of this theme, employees are requested to include the official logo in your signature this week and to be sure to participate in the following events:

  • Nov. 15: Visit the table at the Education Commons Terrace Lobby from 1:15 – 3:30 p.m. to receive promotional items and a chance to win a $25 gift card.
  • Nov. 16: Attend the Profile of a Fraudster presentation by Chief Integrity Officer Jim Rush from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Magnolia Room.
  • Nov. 17: Learn about protecting your privacy and identity from theft in a presentation by Enterprise Privacy Officer Christine Adams at 3:30 in the Health Sciences Training Room.
  • Dec. 1: Discover how to put up your best defense against fraud schemes in a presentation by Natalie Paine, district attorney for the Augusta Judicial Circuit. Hosted by the Institute for Internal Auditors, you can find out more information about the event, including the location and how to register, on their web page.

And don’t forget to complete the 2017 Annual Compliance Training assignment, including the Fraud, Waste and Abuse module.

University employees can log into Workforce Online. The assignment will be announced to health system staff in the near future.
