Cadet Smith sets new school record for high jump

Senior U.S. Army ROTC Cadet Kiana Smith set the new Augusta University school record for the high jump (1.64 meters) at the NCAA Peach Belt Conference/Gulf South Conference Crossover Track and Field Competition in Madison, Alabama, on April 6, 2019.

“Breaking the school record took hard work and training on my own as well as practicing with the team,” said CDT Kiana Smith. “It also took a lot of faith in my abilities to perform on command and under pressure.”

Smith also competed in the 200-meter and 400-meter sprints as well as the long jump, shot put and the javelin events, helping the Jaguar women advance to a third place finish.

“We at Augusta University Army ROTC are very proud of Cadet Kiana Smith for setting a new school record for the high jump event at the NCAA track and field competition in Alabama,” said LTC Danielle Rodondi, AU ROTC department chair of Military Science.  “Cadet Smith is an outstanding Leader in ROTC, Augusta University and in our community.”
