Be someone’s hero – donate your time to the PTO/Catastrophic Leave Fund

If you are a Georgia Regents Medical Center employee, you can be someone’s hero and donate your time today…

The PTO/Catastrophic Leave Fund is in need! This fund consists of employee contributions that are used to assist other employees in times of need due to a catastrophic illness or event, including taking care of a sick family member or needing to get their life back together after the death of a love one, a house fire or a natural disaster. The current fund has been exhausted, and we have several employees in need of donated PTO hours.

We need your generous donations of time today. Loss of time from work can result in substantial loss of income because of exhausted paid leave and often creates a heavy burden for employees and their families. Donating PTO is easy to do and will greatly assist others during their time of need. If eligible, you may donate leave in increments of 4 hours while maintaining at least 50% (at least 40 hours) of accrued PTO in your own PTO bank.

Words of thanks from those who have benefitted from this program:

“This program was a blessing to me and my family. Life had thrown me such a curve ball when I had to be out of work for some time to be with a loved one who had a critical illness. I could not work, I had no more PTO left, but I still had bills to pay. I reached out to Human Resources and was approved to receive donated PTO. Words cannot express my gratitude for such an act of kindness from fellow employees at Georgia Regents Medical Center. This program is an expression of love for others in need.

You never know when something may happen in your life (I never thought I would need it)! Please keep this program alive and donate what you feel in your heart would benefit others in need. This made such a tremendous impact in my life.”

“At 26 weeks gestation, my daughter was diagnosed with a rare heart defect. A week after birth, she had her first open heart surgery in Atlanta. The doctors told my husband and I that she would need two more surgeries in the future. Because of the Employee Care PTO Donation Program, my husband and I were able to be with our daughter for two weeks after surgery. Without this program, I would have had to make the decision of leaving my two-year-old daughter after open heart surgery to return to work or be without pay. I will be forever grateful for assistance we received from this program.”
