Augusta University Health collaborates with DPH to increase COVID-19 testing capacity

Augusta University Health has partnered with Georgia Department of Public Health to increase COVID-19 testing capacity with additional testing days and hours of operation. Starting Wednesday, Sept. 1, a DPH-contracted lab, LTS, will assume operations at AU Health’s drive-thru location at 524 15th St. in Augusta. The testing location will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

LTS offers online scheduling for PCR testing. Patients will be able to schedule a test exclusively through the testing registration website. Test scheduling will no longer be available through the AU Health COVID-19 hotline.

LTS will deliver results within 24-48 hours. Results will go to the patient via text message and email, which are linked to LTS’s online patient portal. Lab results will not appear in the AU Health VIP patient portal.

The collaboration between AU Health and Georgia Department of Public Health will allow for greater access to testing for our community while allowing AU Health to focus resources on vaccinations and the current high volume of patients hospitalized with COVID-19.
