Free Westobou Festival art exhibit runs through Oct. 22

With sponsorship from the Westobou Festival, the Mary S. Byrd Gallery of Art at Georgia Regents University will exhibit the works of Ron Meyers and Gary Hudson in “Immersive Space and Sculptural Form: A Conversation in Color and Clay.”

The group exhibition – featuring large-scale paintings by Hudson and clay works by Meyers –demonstrates the complimentary traits of spontaneity and tradition within art making. Hudson, known as a “Lyrical Abstractionist” creates expressive abstract paintings rich in color and action. Hudson’s clay works possess an expressive flair in the creation of functional ceramics imbued with provocative narratives. While each artist is highly recognized and widely collected for their unique approaches to art making, the combined works create a synergy of expression rich in content.

The exhibit runs Thursday, Oct.1 through Thursday, Oct. 22 at the Byrd gallery, a free art gallery on the Summerville campus of GRU. Events include:
