Applications open for undergraduate research summer program and arts conference

The Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship is accepting applications for two initiatives: the Undergraduate Research and Fine Arts Conference and the Summer Scholars Program.

Undergraduate Research and Fine Arts Conference

The 23rd Annual Undergraduate Research and Fine Arts Conference, scheduled for March 30, is an opportunity for Augusta University students of all disciplines to showcase their scholarly and artistic endeavors. The conference is in person this year, and has expanded: Five different presentation types are now available.

Also new to this year’s conference is the 4×4 Showdown. This competition, loosely modeled after the Three-Minute Thesis competition, will feature students presenting their research in 4 minutes with only four slides. Students may participate in multiple sessions, and cash prizes will be awarded for all judged sessions.

The deadline to submit abstracts and summaries for the conference is Feb. 15.

Summer Scholars Program

The Summer Scholars Program is an intensive, hands-on research experience that allows students to collaborate with a faculty mentor throughout the program. Students are required to work with their research 20 hours per week and must be available to attend orientation and kickoff, as well as weekly workshops.

The nine-week program will run from May 23 through July 22, and the five-week program will run from May 23 through June 24.

Due to conflict with research scheduling, students who are taking in-person summer classes will not be considered for the program. The program is open to all currently enrolled undergraduate students who will graduate in December 2022 or later.

The deadline to apply for the program is March 1.
