Wycliffe Gordon is from Augusta. A world renowned musician, performer, composer, and educator, Gordon’s love for music can be traced back to the band room at Butler High School on the city’s south side. In today’s edition of “Where I’m From”–a joint production of GPB Augusta and The Greater Augusta Arts Council–Wycliffe Gordon continues his conversation with Arts Council Executive Director Brenda Durant. Sitting at the dining room table of his parent’s home in Hephzibah, they discuss the first opportunities to travel that music afforded him, and the role of race and roots during his formative years.
