If trying to squeeze in a grocery store trip has you pressed for time and a bit wary, there is help on the menu for Augusta University Health employees beginning today, April 24.
Food and Nutrition Services is providing an online grocery shopping option through the Terrace Café.
“It’s a national initiative of Sodexo,” said Earl Evans, general manager of Food and Nutrition Services. “This new grocery shopping program — prompted by the emergence of COVID-19 — has been working well in other hospitals, so we’ve been setting things up to help our employees here at AU Health.”
Three pickup times should accommodate most hospital shifts: 7-8 a.m., 5-6 p.m. or 7-8 p.m. Monday-Friday.
A variety of frozen options are available, including ready-to-bake pizzas; meat or veggie lasagna; Salisbury steak trays; frozen vegetables of baby carrots, green beans and lima beans; grilled chicken breasts and frozen nuggets; as well as pancakes and waffles.
Refrigerated options are fresh fruit, such as oranges, apples and bananas; eggs by the dozen; milk by the gallon; sliced cheese; as well as deli turkey, ham and other sandwich meats.
Pantry items include chips; loaves of bread; rice; boxed macaroni and cheese kits; grits; dry mashed potatoes mix; six-packs and 2-liter sodas; granola bars and pudding packs. You can even order a four-roll pack of toilet paper!
Use this AU Medical Center employee grocery order form and follow these three easy steps:
- Indicate the quantity of each item desired.
- Complete the required information so you can be contacted.
- Email your order by the noon daily deadline for next-day pickup.
Once your order has been confirmed, the order will be filled and you will be called or emailed when it is ready, said Evans. All grocery orders must be in by noon each day for pick-up the following day. Friday orders will be picked up on Mondays.
All orders must be picked up in the Terrace Café at the GrubHub location at the coffee counter. You must pay by cash or credit card when you pick up your order, and sales tax will be added.
Augusta University faculty and staff who work inside the hospitals may also participate. However, due to current visitor restrictions, this option is not open to the entire campus at this time.
