Watch Augusta University’s 2019 Lighting of the Tree

Presented by Augusta University and the Summerville Neighborhood Association, the 2019 Lighting of the Tree ceremony on Dec. 2 welcomed faculty, students, staff and the community to enjoy caroling, holiday crafts, face painting, cookie decorating and refreshments outside the university’s Maxwell Theatre. Children and children-at-heart were even able to write letters to Santa and then get their photos taken with him.

Guests also brought non-perishable food items to donate to the Open Paws Food Pantry. The pantry provides food, toiletry items and some school supplies to current students who may not be able to afford them.

Check out the photos below to view highlights from the ceremony.

The event was hosted by the university’s Alumni Association president Rich Rogers.
