Augusta University Jaguar Sports Medicine is calling on the university’s health care professionals to participate in their free sports physicals event being held Saturday, April 27, for local student athletes.
Hundreds of young athletes are expected to attend this year, and Jaguar Sports Medicine Director and Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Chair Dr. Monte Hunter is encouraging medical volunteers to assist his sports medicine team in providing health care to as many young athletes as possible.
“This annual event means a lot to our team since some of these patients have limited access to health care and have not seen a doctor since last year’s free physicals event,” said Hunter. “Giving youth access to health care early in their lives sets them up to become healthy adults, and I feel sports medicine is the way we can help cure our nation’s health care crisis.”
