Dr. David G. Harrison, Betty and Jack Bailey Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology and director of the Division of Clinical Pharmacology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, will present “Inflammation, Immunity and Hypertension” on Thursday, March 31, as part of the 13th Virendra B. Mahesh Lectureship.
The seminar will begin at 9 a.m. in the Health Sciences Building, Room EC 1218.
Harrison received his MD degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1974. Since then, he has devoted his career to basic research related to vascular function, cardiology and the education of young physicians. Harrison joined Vanderbilt in 2011 as director of the Division of Clinical Pharmacology. Today, he also serves as the university’s director of the Center for Vascular Biology.
The Virendra B. Mahesh Lectureship was established in 2001 in the Department of Physiology at Augusta University as a lasting tribute to the department’s former chair and a pillar of the university’s expansive health care legacy. Today, the lectureship brings an outstanding and distinguished leader in health science to Augusta every year, allowing visionaries to exchange their ideas with Augusta University researchers and inspire trainees and young investigators.
