The CMS COVID-19 vaccination requirement for health care delivery environments — like hospitals and clinics — was challenged in court and a stay was issued by a federal judge. As such, AU Health has suspended the previously announced vaccination deadlines until further notice.
The COVID-19 vaccination requirement for federal contractors that impacted universities across the nation has also been challenged in court and a stay was issued by a federal judge. As such, Augusta University is suspending its previously announced vaccination deadlines until further notice. As the litigation around the vaccine requirements progresses through the courts, the situation may change.
We understand vaccination is a personal issue. Augusta University supports a fully vaccinated workforce and continues to offer COVID-19 vaccination registration online and through Employee Health.
- If you are a university employee previously impacted by the federal contractor requirements and require an exemption or accommodation, you should still complete the JagSafeVax survey.
- If you are a health system employee previously impacted by the CMS requirements and require an exemption or accommodation, you should still email a religious/disability/medical accommodation exemption form to AUHSvaccine@augusta.edu.
Having those documents on file will allow us to assist you more quickly should the litigation reinstate one or both of the vaccine requirements.
The past few months have been fluid as we position to comply with the CMS and federal contractor COVID-19 vaccination deadlines. University and health system leaders have pledged to be open and transparent with our communications as we navigate these unchartered waters together, and that promise continues.
Leadership will keep you informed as additional information becomes available. Stay up to date on the latest with our vaccine resource page. In the meantime, please know how much we appreciate all that you do for our students, patients and each other.
