Student Life announces 2021-22 Undergraduate Student Government Association leadership

It’s time to welcome new undergraduate Student Government Association leadership to the Augusta University campus:

Mahadia Islam, President

Mahadia Islam, rising senior from Buford, Georgia, is returning for another year as president of undergraduate SGA. She is well known around campus through her work as a resident assistant and Student Wellness peer educator. Mahadia is also a part of the Lumin Society. Mahadia is majoring in kinesiology in the College of Education. As president, she is excited to continue to bring forward student perspectives so the university has student input on important decisions.

Puja Punukollu, Vice President

Puja Punukollu from Fairfax, Virginia, was elected vice president after serving as comptroller for the 2020-21 academic year. Outside of student government, Punukollu serves as an 1828 Ambassador and a member of the Student Health Advisory Council. Punukollu is also a pre-medicine major in the College of Science and Mathematics and plans to begin at the Medical College of Georgia in fall 2022. As vice president, Punukollu would like to strengthen the internal operations of student government through her work at Senate meetings and with the committees.

Krishna Kolluri, Comptroller

Krishna Kolluri from Tucker, Georgia, was elected comptroller after serving a term in the inaugural class of first-year senators. Kolluri is a proud member of the Indian Cultural Exchange, Doctors without Borders and participates in research through the Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship. Kolluri is currently studying biology/pre-medicine through the College of Science and Mathematics. As comptroller, Kolluri wants to focus funding on priorities that bring about positive change at Augusta University.

Eddie Ortiz, Secretary

Eddie Ortiz, rising junior from Gainesville, Georgia, was elected secretary. He is a rising junior chemistry major in the College of Science and Mathematics. Eddie has been involved in student government throughout his time at Augusta University as a member of the Freshman Council and the chair of the Student Affairs Committee, and is excited to continue elevating the voices of students. Outside of student government, Eddie is an active member of HOY (Hispanic Organization of Youth) and sings in the Augusta University Choir.
