Augusta University’s Student Health Services will relocate to the Health Sciences Building, suite 1500, on the Health Sciences Campus, providing a modern clinic space with an updated laboratory in a central location. This move supports Augusta University’s continued investment in advanced research and clinical innovation, including the construction of a new translational research building that will replace Pavilions I and II.

“This move aligns with our mission to provide life-changing, life-saving care by offering our students the highest standard of care,” said Scott Wallace, PhD, associate vice president and dean of students. “We are Georgia’s public health sciences institution, and we strive to offer our students excellent services, including a clinic that feels welcoming when they walk through the door. Student Health Services is vitally important because we know that if students are not physically well, they cannot perform at their optimal level. Student Health Services contributes to developing future leaders in our state, many of whom will serve in the health care industry.”
AU’s mission to provide transformative educational experiences extends to student health care, ensuring students receive support that promotes positive outcomes for both their medical and mental health care needs. This relocation allows greater visibility for Student Health Services, from immunization services and primary health care to specialty services of gynecology, psychiatry, dietetics and physical therapy.
The move will occur mid-December to minimize disruption to clinic operations and patient care, said Shelli Larkin, DNP, director of Student Health Services.

The team will kick off the spring semester fully operational in the new clinic. In preparation, staff are personalizing the space to ensure a welcoming environment for all patients.
To help make the space uniquely theirs, students have been invited to participate in a mural competition representing Student Health Services’ service standards of safety, quality, professionalism and compassion.
The first-place winner will receive $500 and have their mural featured on the main waiting room wall, while the second- and third-place winners will receive $250 and $125, respectively, with their artwork framed and displayed in an exam room or the lab.

“I am excited to see how we are transforming the space through the lens of our students, focusing on our foundation of excellent customer service throughout every step of their healthcare encounter,” said Larkin. “It has allowed the entire team to engage in the planning and execution of the relocation, focusing on streamlined quality services from check-in to check-out for each individual student served within the clinic.”
Student Health Services invites all students, faculty and staff to the grand opening from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9. The event will showcase the field of college health and the meaningful role these services have on students’ personal development and academic success. There will also be snacks, interactive games and clinic tours.
