Stretching clinical care initiatives beyond the boundaries

In follow up to the recent launch of Augusta University’s new strategic plan, Beyond Boundaries, here is an update on the clinical care strategic area of focus. Continuing with our commitment to put patients first, a health system-wide project focused on revenue cycle improvements is making great progress. Decisions are being made based on best practices of academic health centers across the globe, and workflows are being examined and improved to benefit patients and families.

Here’s where we are:

• The same-day and next-day scheduling pilot for ambulatory care clinics, giving better access to both patients and referring physicians. Other ambulatory care sites will be pulled into the project soon.
• A new centralized business office with streamlined operations should improve health system effectiveness and efficiencies. It will function as a united team in early 2018.
• Improvements to patient statements, bill pay, and payment estimators are being made to provide a seamless, online experience for patients while combining physician and facility charges.
