Roosevelt Warm Springs celebrates nurses with an awards reception

In honor of National Nurses Week, Roosevelt Warm Springs Rehabilitation and Specialty Hospitals celebrated their nurses with a reception.

Augusta University joins Roosevelt Warm Springs in congratulating those individuals who were awarded for outstanding work, including the Nurse of the Year and Patient Care Aide of the Year awardees.

Maggie Scogin, Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) charge nurse, was awarded the 2019 Ruth W. Massengale Nursing Award, with honorable mentions going to Sherry Akins, registered nurse (RN) and IRF charge nurse, and Kalee Plouffe, licensed practical nurse (LPN).

Julia Copeland, IRF patient care aide, took home the 2019 Cathy B. Harbin Patient Care Aide of the Year award, with Kimberly Jones, patience care assistant ­— long term acute care hospital, was recognized with an honorable mention.

“We are honored to have a team of dedicated nurses who work tirelessly for our patients and their families,” said David Mork, chief executive officer of Roosevelt Warm Springs. “The work our nurses do is so important, and we’re glad to have the opportunity to celebrate their hard work.”
