The Critical Event Preparedness and Response Department’s emergency mass notification system, GR Alert, will be tested on Oct. 21 from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
CEPaR is committed to keeping the community as safe as possible through effective communication prior to, during and following events. GR Alert is an effective tool for doing so. GR Alert notifies its participants of emergency events by phone, email and text message.
CEPaR encourages all students, faculty and staff to log into the GR Alert system and update emergency contact number so that they can receive a notification should an emergency event occur. GR Alert can send out an alert during a winter storm, for instance, including valuable information about the event and the university and medical center’s operating condition.
A link to the system can be found in a couple of places on the GRU homepage. From the GRU homepage, scroll to the bottom of the page, and under “Facts and Info,” you will find the GR Alerts link. If you click on the “A-Z” tab, you can locate the link under “A” for “Alerts” or “G” for “GR Alerts.”
Once you are on the GR Alert page, please follow the instructions based on your status. The GR Alert system is tested on a monthly basis to ensure that the system is working properly, and your information will only be used for test and emergency notifications.
CEPaR will update the GR Alert system on Oct. 14 so you may receive a welcome message from Blackboard Connect.
