Bone marrow donor registration event happening now

Lance Goninan and Justin Benden have never met, but that did not stop Benden from saving Goninan’s life.

Because Benden made the decision to sign up for Be The Match, the national bone marrow registry, he was able to donate bone marrow to Goninan, who needed a bone marrow transplant after being diagnosed with leukemia.

Thursday, the two families will meet for the first time and celebrate the gift of the donation.

If you would like to sign up with Be The Match, a registration event will be held in the first floor conference room at the Georgia Cancer Center’s Outpatient Services clinic on Friday, April 13, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. There, you’ll fill out an information form and have the inside of your cheeks swabbed. It’s that simple.
