President of American Academy of Pediatrics to visit Augusta University Health

The Augusta University Institute of Public and Preventive Health is pleased to welcome Dr. Sara H. Goza, president of the American Academy of Pediatrics, to the Health Sciences Campus at AU.

Goza, a 1984 graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, will visit the campus on Thursday and Friday, March 5 and 6, and will give a presentation at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Lee Auditoria Center, titled “Building Resilient Children: Our Opportunity and Obligation.”

Goza, a practicing pediatrician in Fayetteville, Georgia, will also meet with leaders in the Department of Pediatrics, including the department chair, Dr. Valera L. Hudson, during the weekly Grand Rounds presentation at 8 a.m. Friday in room BT-1810.

“Sally is a person whose actions speak even louder than their words,” said Dr. Avril Beckford, former president of the AAP Georgia Chapter. “When it comes to action, the time, energy and devotion she gives to children and families is very inspiring.”

Dr. Goza’s visit coincides with Advocacy week for pediatric residents, highlighting the many ways that the physicians at Children’s Hospital of Georgia strongly advocate for children’s health.
