Patient champion returns to Augusta to deliver care conference keynote

WHAT: After a decade in Arkansas, Julie Ginn Moretz returns to Augusta to deliver the keynote speech at the 10^th annual Patient- and Family-Centered Care Conference, presented by Augusta University Health.

WHEN: 1-5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, in the Natalie and Lansing B. Lee Jr. Auditorium, Augusta University Health Sciences campus

ABOUT: Moretz, associate vice chancellor for patient- and family-centered care at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, is former director of Family Services Development for the Medical College of Georgia. While at MCG, Moretz worked with hospital administrators and clinicians to develop the internationally recognized patient- and family-centered care philosophy, which has one of the largest patient advisory programs in the country. Moretz and MCG were featured in the 2006 PBS documentary Remaking American Medicine, a series focused on improving the quality of American health care. The last of the four parts, “Hand in Hand,” features Moretz’s son, Daniel, who lost an extensive heart battle just before the film was released.

Moretz will speak to nurses, physicians and other healthcare providers at Augusta University about “Connecting the Dots to the Patient Experience.”
