NICU babies come back to celebrate life with teams who cared for them

Media Advisory for Saturday, Sept. 22

EVENT: Children’s Hospital of Georgia is throwing a party for some special babies and their families — the NICU Baby Comeback Party. About 30 of the region’s youngest patients who spent time in the Children’s Hospital of Georgia’s Level IV neonatal intensive care unit will come back to celebrate life and reconnect with the dedicated NICU teams who provided lifesaving care to them.

WHEN & WHERE: 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the J. Harold Harrison, M.D. Education Commons, 1301 R.A. Dent Blvd.

BACKGROUND: Thousands of babies are born prematurely or with complex health conditions that prevent them from leaving the hospital at birth. Children’s Hospital of Georgia provides the highest level of neonatal intensive and critical care in the region. This special event allows caregivers in the NICU to celebrate these children, who are no longer “preemies,” thanks to exceptional care at Children’s Hospital of Georgia.

The Children’s Hospital of Georgia is also celebrating 20 years of healing, hope, and miracles this year.

Editorial Note: September is Neonatal Intensive Care Awareness Month.
