New Jaguar Express routes roll out Jan. 26 on Health Sciences Campus

New Jaguar Express transit routes for Georgia Regents University’s Health Sciences Campus begin Monday, Jan. 26 with new stops and shorter wait times between passenger pick-up and drop-off.

The transit route revamp is designed to be more consumer friendly while alleviating parking overcrowding at the heart of Campus.

“The new routes will operate like a true transit system, with a regular, dependable schedule and frequent visits to each bus stop,” said Karl Munschy, Director of Auxiliary Administration. “Passengers should meet their bus at the designated bus stop when boarding and un-boarding.”

The new routes are:

  • Green Route: Service for the northern areas of the Health Sciences Campus, it operates weekdays from 5:30 a.m.-6 p.m. There are five stops: the Annex; Kroger; Alumni Center; Georgia Regents Medical Center at Harper Street; and Lot 65. The shuttle visits each stop every 10 minutes.
  • Gold Route: Service for the southern areas of the Health Sciences Campus, it operates weekdays from 5:30 a.m-6 p.m. There are seven stops: Moore Avenue (Lot 69); Parnell Street; Georgia Regents Medical Center at Harper Street; the Health Sciences Building; Laney Stadium; Goss Lane; and the College of Dental Medicine. The transit shuttle visits each stop every 7 minutes between 5:30 a.m.-8 a.m., and every 11 minutes between 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

Munschy said there are plans to roll out a smartphone app soon with which passengers can track their shuttle’s progress.

In addition, the Summerville Campus and inter-campus routes have new names:

  • Blue Route (Summerville/Forest Hills Loop) operates when undergraduate classes are in session. Fall and spring academic session hours are Monday-Thursday from 7 a.m.-11 p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Summer academic session hours are Monday-Thursday from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. There are four stops: the Summerville Campus main entrance at University Hall; between Allgood and Science Hall in Lot 25; the main entrance of Christenberry Fieldhouse; and the bus stop at Jaguar Way near University Village. During fall and spring academic sessions, the shuttle visits each stop every 15 minutes between 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and every 30 minutes between 6 p.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Thursday. The summer academic session hours are Monday-Thursday from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. During summer sessions, the shuttle visits each stop every 30 minutes.
    • Red Route (Summerville/Health Sciences inter-campus Loop) operates when undergraduate classes are in session.
