March Planning and Resource Alignment Hearings open to faculty, staff and students

Augusta University will once again host the Planning and Resource Alignment Hearings this year as part of integrated planning. At the hearings, university leaders will share their colleges’ and units’ achievements and challenges and present their preliminary goals for FY 2020.

First held in spring 2014, the hearings provide an opportunity for leaders to share how their goals align with institutional priorities and how they will use existing resources to accomplish these goals in FY 2020. The hearings are open to university stakeholders to foster open and transparent communication about institutional accomplishments, challenges and priorities.

“This process is one way we fulfill our university’s commitment to collaboration, engagement and open dialog,” said Russell Keen, executive vice president for External Relations and chief of staff to the president. “These presentations are a quick way to get a snapshot of where each unit has been and is going and an opportunity to learn more about all of the moving parts of our complex environment.”

Presenters are also asked to describe their FY 2020 priorities in the event that additional resources become available. Specifically, presenters will describe how goals align with AU’s strategic plan, Beyond Boundaries.

All hearings are open to faculty, staff and students. Members are urged to participate in person, from a distance or by reviewing the presentations posted online. All presentations will be followed by questions and feedback from a panel of the institution’s executive vice presidents.

“As unit leaders, engaging our teams during our planning activities is a given. Gaining broad input is harder, and we are hopeful these can be helpful in that regard,” said Dr. Gretchen Caughman, provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs.

Hearings will be held in the JSAC Coffeehouse (Room 235) from 8:30 a.m. to noon March 18 – 22. To further support transparent communication, this year’s hearings will include a webcasting option for members at off-site locations to watch the hearings live.
