Heroes in Health Care: Nov. 23-27

This week’s installment of Heroes in Health Care begins in the Division of Nephrology, where Dr. Carlos Zayas, medical director of Transplant Nephrology and Transplantation, has received a great deal of praise for his “above-and-beyond” style of caregiving.

“We visited Dr. Zayas via Skype,” one patient said, referencing the popular online voice call/video chat application. “Although a brief encounter, I was treated in a friendly and courteous manner. His concern was appreciated.”

Another patient said of Zayas, “He is an amazing physician, and I drive up from Atlanta just to see him.  He is brilliant, kind and extremely caring.”

But Zayas isn’t the only one getting attention in the Division of Nephrology. Division Chief Laura Mulloy and her staff also earned a shout out from a grateful patient.

“Dr. Mulloy and staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful,” one patient said. “I have told several people how good the staff is at GRHealth.”

Next, we move to Urology, where Lisa Tate and Jackie Brooks were rewarded with a very heartfelt thank-you.

“I have never met anyone as nice as Mrs. Lisa and Mrs. Jackie,” one patient said. “The first time I was released to go home, they explained everything to me because they knew I was scared. Thank you both so much.”

The staff of the Rheumatology and Adult Allergy Clinic got some high praise from a very worldly patient.

“This is the best office in the CSRA,” one patient said. “In fact, I have traveled all around the world and never found such excellent care.”

And to round us out this week, the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine not only showed this patient that they cared – they also showed us they were in the business of making statewide impressions.

“GRHealth is the best in the state,” the patient said, “and I’m from the Atlanta area!”
