Health system launches blog

On Monday, Augusta University Health officially launched the Your Health Today blog, a site that patients and consumers can visit to read health-related stories about the health system’s expertise and advanced technology and even browse healthy recipes.

Also available in print, Your Health Today, the health system’s quarterly consumer magazine, is mailed to about 17,000 people and distributed throughout the health system.

Your Health Today not only serves as an educational tool for promoting the wide range of services we offer,” said Anna Aligood, Augusta University Health marketing strategist, “but it also provides tips for living a healthy lifestyle. It’s important to remember that we play a critical role in educating members of our community on prevention.”

The magazine evolved into a blog when Aligood’s colleague, Clarissa Chavez, marketing coordinator, recognized an opportunity to amplify the magazine’s voice.

“Social media users are looking for short, digestible content that is tailored to them,” Chavez, who managers the enterprise’s social media presence, said. “With the creation of the blog, Your Health Today has been elevated into a mobile friendly, care-specific information tool that our community can access directly from Facebook and Twitter.”

Readers of Your Health Today can visit the blog to find content from the magazine as well as additional stories, some of which are authored by the university’s health care professionals. Additionally, there is a section on the site where readers can submit their own health-related story ideas.
