Governor’s Office of Highway Safety awards grant to Augusta University’s Student Wellness Program

Augusta University’s Student Wellness Program has been awarded a $8,027.01 grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS). GOHS funding will be used to train peer educators and acquire resources intended to promote education and awareness among Augusta University’s students. The funding will also allow the Student Wellness Program to expand their alcohol awareness and education programming. Efforts will focus on a variety of highway safety issues, including alcohol education and awareness, seat belt safety and safe driving.

“Without funding from GOHS’s Young Adults Program, we would not be able to offer students impactful, educational programming to keep them and local residents safe while traveling throughout Augusta and the state of Georgia,” said Samantha Denson, Augusta University’s Student Wellness Program coordinator.

The Student Wellness Program is dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of AU students. Through student engagement, program development and implementation, and the coordination of campus and local resources, the Student Wellness Program is able to maximize student health and well-being.
