Concerning the Certificate of Need for the Columbia County hospital

The following was distributed as an email by Shawn Vincent, Vice President of Partnerships, International Healthcare and Strategic Affiliations:

Dear Colleagues,

By now you have likely heard that Doctors Hospital has filed a lawsuit against the Department of Community Health regarding the Certificate of Need that was awarded to Georgia Regents Medical Center for a hospital in Columbia County.

This litigation comes on top of the appeals filed by Doctors Hospital and University Hospital to DCH earlier this year that are scheduled to be heard in late June.

We want to assure you that we remain confident in the Department of Community Health and the CON process, and we want to let you know that we anticipated opposition.

We look forward to serving Columbia County and the surrounding communities in the very near future, and we thank you for your continued support in this effort.

Sincerely,

Shawn P. Vincent, Sr.
Vice President of Partnerships, International Healthcare and Strategic Affiliations
