A celebration of life event for the late Augusta State University President Emeritus William A. Bloodworth Jr. will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12 in the Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre on the Summerville Campus at Augusta University. The event is open to the public and will also be livestreamed. A reception for family and friends will be held in the lobby and recital hall of the Fine Arts Center immediately following the event.
Parking for the event will be behind the Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre in lots 123 and 124 with overflow parking available behind Fanning Hall in lots 121 and 122.
Bloodworth, who oversaw Augusta College’s transition to Augusta State University and served 18 years as president starting in 1993, passed away Monday, Aug. 29 at age 79.
Survivors include Bloodworth’s wife of 57 years, Julia Rankin Bloodworth; son Paul Bloodworth (Catherine); daughter Nicole Bloodworth (Dana Meyers); grandchildren Palmer, Sara Jane and Molly; and Bloodworth’s beloved King Charles spaniel, Ollie.
