Augusta University Health rolled out a new fleet of ambulances Friday at AU Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of Georgia.
AU Health signed an agreement with Grady EMS in Atlanta in May 2018 to develop and deploy about eight new AU Health-branded ambulances. The ambulances will be used primarily for hospital-to-hospital transports when patients need the highest levels of care at AU Medical Center or Children’s Hospital of Georgia, the state’s only public academic health center.
Officials with AU Health also unveiled one of the new Mobile Care Team SUVs. Staffed by expert medical teams, these integrated mobile care vehicles will make “old school house calls” for patients with chronic conditions that need more frequent health care management assistance. AU Health officials say having the Mobile Care Teams out and about in the community should reduce the need for patients with chronic conditions from making frequent ER trips.
The new Mobile Care Teams and ambulance fleet are part of AU Health’s commitment to provide specialized care to patients when and where they need it.
