Dr. Samir N. Khleif, director of the GRU Cancer Center at Georgia Regents University, was presented a proclamation of excellence at the Augusta Economic Development Authority’s inaugural Celebration of Industries luncheon on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Augusta Country Club. The proclamation was issued in recognition of his and the Cancer Center’s contributions in the areas of education, outreach, economic impact and the fostering of private, industry and legislative partnerships in the Greater Augusta area and throughout the region.
“The Augusta Economic Development Authority wanted to recognize the incredible contribution Dr. Khleif is making to the Greater Augusta area,” said Henry Ingram, chairman of the Augusta Economic Development Authority. “The GRU Cancer Center is a beacon for cutting-edge research and clinical care, and we are proud of its partnerships with industry and the Greater Augusta community. His contributions will indeed foster meaningful collaborations that will create a better and more prosperous Augusta.”
The purpose of the luncheon was to bring industry leaders together to celebrate excellence in Augusta-Richmond County. Elanco, an animal food and pharmaceutical producer, was named Augusta’s Manufacturer of the Year at the event.
Former University of Georgia football coach and athletic director Vince Dooley was the featured speaker.
