Brueilly named chair of Physical Therapy

Dr. Kevin E. Brueilly, the chair of the Department of Physical Therapy and founding director of the Doctor of Physical Therapy and Neurologic Residency Programs at Wingate University, has been named chair of the Department of Physical Therapy in the College of Allied Health Sciences at Augusta University. His position becomes effective July 1.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Brueilly as the chair of physical therapy,” said Dr. Lester Pretlow, dean of the College of Allied Health Sciences. “His experience, combined with his reputation as a leader in physical therapy education, will help propel the program and university forward.”

Prior to his role at Wingate University, Brueilly served as founding director of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Lynchburg College and held leadership roles at other institutions such as Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences.

Brueilly currently serves as co-editor in chief for the Journal of Physical Therapy Education and associate editor for the Journal of Acute Physical Therapy.

His research interests include education methodologies and pedagogy in physical therapist education as well as applied biomechanics in lifting, rehabilitation and clinical outcomes in patients with cancer and rehabilitation following total knee arthroplasty.

Brueilly received his bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Cedarville University, a master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, and a doctoral degree in Family and Consumer Science Education from Texas Tech University.
