Raise a glass to Augusta University! AU has partnered with Savannah River Brewing Co. to create Bell Tower Blonde Ale, its first university-branded craft beer. AU and the award-winning craft brewery announced the release earlier this fall.
The beer is now available on tap and in cans across the Augusta area. The can design features the university’s bell tower and signature blue and grey colors.

Bell Tower Blonde Ale is an officially licensed university product developed in collaboration with AU’s Communications and Marketing department, including Taylor Lamb, director of marketing & creative services, and Alison Rohdy, brand merchandise strategist, who designed the label; AU’s licensing partner, Affinity Licensing; and Savannah River Brewing Co.
“AU leadership is always looking for new and exciting ways to bring the Augusta University brand to the community. And with Savannah River Brewing Co. being a local favorite now – much more than a brewery, truly a community hub – the partnership just makes good sense,” Lamb said. “They were already involved with the university, and the timing could not have been better for us to align with the brewery and put out a really cool product.”
More than two years of discussions, design work and brewing went into the finished beer. AU’s Creative Director Sergio Gallardo designed and handcrafted custom AU tap handles for establishments serving the beer.

“Partnering with Augusta University to bring the Bell Tower Blonde Ale to life has been an absolute joy for Savannah River Brewing Co.,” said Emily Amerson, head of design and marketing at the brewery. “We thrive on local collaboration, and being able to bring a high-quality product to our local university is something we’re proud of. Speaking as an AU graduate, collaborating with my alma mater on the design and production side has made this project extra special. So whenever you are out, grab a Bell Tower beer or a six pack and show some love for both your local brewery and university.”
The official debut of Bell Tower Blonde Ale is planned for AU’s annual Brew-N-Que on Oct. 16, during Parent & Family Weekend.
“Brew-N-Que is a longstanding tradition on our campus, a chance for the community to come together and support Augusta University,” Lamb said. “It feels like the right place and time to introduce a beer that celebrates AU and our partnership with a local brewery. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone raise a glass together on Oct. 16.”
Royalties from beer sales will support scholarships for Augusta University student-athletes.
“We could not be more thrilled to partner with Savannah River Brewing Company on the creation of the Bell Tower,” said Brent McMillian, director of Athletics at Augusta University. “In this day and age, we are always looking for creative ways to support athletics and student-athletes, and this partnership is a true collaboration that will have a tangible impact on them. Not only can the community enjoy a quality blonde ale from an award-winning brewery, but they can also help directly support our student-athletes with every purchase.”
The 5.3% blonde ale is also expected to be available at select Augusta Jaguars home sporting events. Purchase Brew-N-Que tickets here.
